Rain

The pitter- patter of rain stops abruptly,
And a rainbow of lively colours dances across the sky.
You gaze into the sky and wonder:
Do rainbows actually dance?
What makes them so mysterious and enchanting?
It is night.
The rainbow is gone but
Its cloak of warmth and happiness surrounds you.
I wonder if the rainbow will come again.
The next day it rains again!
The spish- sposh of rain halts swiftly,
And the rainbow dances across the sky
Just like a carpet of magic rolling.
Rolling across the deep blue sky.
You gaze into the sky and wonder:
Is this the same rainbow as before?
Perhaps, and then again, perhaps not.
It is night.
The rainbow is gone but
Its cloak of peace and delight blankets you.
Will the rainbow come again?
The next day is Saturday.
Guess what- it’s sunny!
Suddenly, dark thundering clouds roll across the sky.
Ah, well…..
Time to head back home.
Too late! It starts to pour like crazy.
Then a moment later, the lingering memory
Of the sudden downpour is gone.
The rainbow dances across the sky.
You glance up once again at it and wonder:
Why does it rain everyday?
Why does this rainbow keep sneaking up on me?
You shrug the unanswered questions off your shoulders.
It’s twilight, anyway.
Flames of red, purple, and pink and flickering at the horizon.
It’s almost night.
But the rainbow’s still there!
Talk about stubborn!
NOW it’s night.
You look out the window.
Grr, rainbow’s still there.
“Go back to your bed of flaming golden silk
underneath the sun, come on!”
You say, agitated.
It doesn’t go away.
You snuggle under the covers of the cuddly duvet blanket.
How can a rainbow glow in the shadow of night?
Impossible! Ridiculous! Absurd!
Yet it is here. Yes, here.
Slowly but surely, sleep comes. Finally.
The rainbow’s cloak of exuberance and light
holds you in everlasting brightness.
The next day, rain splatters the rooftops and streets.
And once again, a rainbow dances across the sky.
